Alec had been ready to attack at the sound, and moved with Lex just as quickly, but Lex's retort brought him to a halt. He was too on edge today, but even though Lex seemed to know the voice, Alec stood still, ready to pounce if she were mistaken. He didn't like being exposed like this.
"Does the girl have a name?" Alec asked curiously.
Lex laughed and walked back to him planting a kiss on his temple and twining his fingers with her own and towing him out of the alley.
"Yes, she does, but she's obviously not in the mood to come out and play yet, so I'll leave it up to her! Don't worry, she's not a danger to us, she's just figuring out her ground, so you can drop out of your stance, because if it comes down to a fight, that's not a choice I want to have to make."
She enjoyed his perplexed face, for a moment, before becoming serious again. "So, are you gonna tell me what's got to you so much?" Her tone was serious and a little sad, she knew she had no real reason to trust him, but if he chose not to trust her again especially with things going the way they were, she would be forced to think about things.
Alec rolled his eyes. "We'll worry about me later," Alec said incredulously, "That's it? How do you know it's not a trap?" His voice was a whisper as he pulled her into the shadows himself.
Lex chuckled at him, disentangled herself and stepped out of the shadows. "Yo, Edie, you gonna kill us?"
The ghost of a laugh came again.
"Not so much."
She stepped back to Alec "It's not a trap boo"
"Yeah because we've had so much luck with your friends in the past," Alec raised an eyebrow at her.
"Hide an seek isn't my game babe. I play hide-and-hope-I-don't-find-you. Out. Now," Alec demanded. He'd had a hell of a day and now it looked like some shadow stalking friend was going to throw salt in his game. Again.

Re: 3am: After work
Eden stalked out of the shadows, all black leather and attitude.
"Wow, he's a nice boy! Tell me, do you think she like's it when you hurt her or are you just stupid?"
Lex looked away sharply, attempting to hide how much his comment had cut.
"Well maybe if you hadn't screwed around like that I wouldn't have had to question it in the first place. Now who's so brilliant? It's all fun and games right?" Alec asked sardonically.
"Wrong. Not in a war it's not, which you happened to have walked straight into. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask why," Alec told Eden his voice flat, "But I do think it's a bad idea to do it in the middle of the street."
Alec sighed and said, "Let's get back and avoid sector cops. Max called to tell me they're checking for barcodes now and I need a touchup. How are you doing?"

Re: 3am: After work
Eden glared at Alec for a moment, and walked carefully over to Lex. "Hey Allycat, how you doing?" Her tone completely changed, soft and worried. "You worried us, and we didn't want you to be alone right now."
Lex stared at Eden for a moment, before stepping toward her friend and pulled her into a tight hug. "God, I've missed you." Her voice shook. "So, you're here now, right?"
Eden nodded, and smiled gently.
"Alec, I'll get the barcode fixed, and this is Eden. Please, try to get on huh? For me!"
"Oh I'm sure we'll be great friends," Alec smiled at Eden sarcastically.
So worried you hid and put people on guard in the middle of a war. Oh yeah, best friends.
"Okay good. Call Jondy if you need to. I'm going to get mine done while you two catch up okay?" Alec smiled, "Nice to meet you Eden. A phone wouldn't hurt next time but whatever. Lex I'll talk to you later."
"Yeah I'll cya." Her tone was tight, stressed, sad.
Eden watched him go. "Al, why? If you're with this guy then he needs to know, before you sink like you always do, around now...I know why, but he won't, and if he is your guy, then he needs to know...If things get like they have before..."
"They won't Ed, here it's not just a risk to me."
Lex was interrupted by the trilling of her 'phone and she answered it, and listened to what Libra had to say.
She didn't even need to speak when she hung up.
Eden smiled "Go, catch up with your man while I catch up with mine, we'll all still be here in the morning..if you play it safe."
Lex looked gratefully at her friend and turned to follow Alec.
Alec had already been halfway down the street, but Lex's call stopped him.
If this is more about laying off Eden I so don't want to hear it, Alec thought.
However he turned and waited for her to come up to, stepping forward to meet her as she drew near.
"What is it? If it's a lecture about how nice I ought to be to your friends it can wait. I want to get this taken care of while my guy is still open," Alec said, his eyebrows raised expectantly.
Lex smiled gently at him.
"You left for me?" She asked him softly. "Everything that was going on and you left to see me?"
She didn't wait for an answer, just took his face in her hands and, kissed him, she might not have been able to tell him yet, but she hoped he knew.
She kissed him again. "Missed you, Slick."
Alec kissed her back, relieved. He'd expected a verbal lashing. He wasn't as good as saying how he felt as much as showing it, so he kissed her again, a bit more passionately.
Breaking off he smiled that half smile that was nearly a trademark of his. "If you didn't notice I did too. Some. A little," He joked.
"Only a little huh?" Lex teased him, leaning away for a second. "You disappear off to do battle with the National Guard, and only miss me a little? It means a lot...that you came."
She kissed him again, slowly, allowing her worry about the current situation, to drain away. He was here and for now at least, he was safe and he was hers.
She pulled away from him again and ran her knuckle over his cheek.
"Now, what was this about the codes?"
