"I don't even wanna know why you got kicked out of the movie, do I?" Max arched an eyebrow at her sister, an teasing smirk curving her lips, "So did you actually end up gettin' anything to wear for the rave, or did you just 'have fun' in the dressing room?"
"What?," Jondy said, feigning innocence. "We got kicked out because we didn't have a ticket! Gosh, Max, such a mind you have!"
She set aside her cup of coffee on the bedside table and went to her closet to take out the bag with the items they'd purchased at the store, taking them out to show her. "This dress, and these heels. And my hair's gonna be streaked pink."
She was excited about that, she hadn't done pink in a while.
"Uh-huh," Max agreed with a mocking smirk, "So by 'fun in the dressing room' you meant you were playing charades?"
"Cute," She took one of the boots, turning it over in her hands, "Very sci-fi. You sure these boots are gonna be practical, sistergirl? You're meant to be kickin' ass, not fallin' on it, s'all I'm sayin'."
"No," Jondy said cheerfully as she set the dress aside.
"And please, I've been wearing heels since I was thirteen. These'll be a cakewalk."
"Anything to gain a few extra inches, hey shorty?" Max smirked teasingly, and leaned back against the pile of pillows so Jondy couldn't get one to hit her with.
She picked up her mug of coffee, taking a sip, "So he took you out for dinner and a movie, huh?"
She'd already heard all about Pulse and Jondy's exploits in the dressing room from Scout, who'd come back to TC straight after the shopping trip.
Since Max had blocked her from being able to get a pillow to hit her with, Jondy swatted her on the ankle instead before reaching for her coffee and sitting back down on the bed.
"Yes. Well, he didn't really take me out for the movie, we snuck in."
"It's the thought that counts, isn't it?" Max gave her sister an amused look. She noticed Jondy hadn't said anything about splitting the bill for the meal, "And he took you out for dinner?"
"...Now what was it you were sayin' the other night about dates?" She asked with a sly smirk, then drank some more of her coffee.
"Friends pay for friend's dinners," Jondy said defensively. "It doesn't make it a date."
"Uh-huh. Sure," Max agreed dryly, shaking her head, "You just keep on tellin' yourself that, sistergirl. 'Course, usually friends aren't all over each other like a rash either, but what would I know?"
"Friends with benefits are," Jondy said, appearing to grow irritated before sipping her coffee again. "And that's what we are."
"Mmhmmm," Max agreed, eying Jondy over the rim of her mug as she sipped her coffee, "Friends with all the benefits of dating."
Shaking her head, she let it drop - Jondy wasn't ready to admit that anything deeper was going on.
"So I guess you're all set for the rave then?" She asked, her gut tightening in apprehension.
"Yeah," Jondy said, relaxing a bit once Max let the subject drop. "It should be pretty interesting. Do we have a plan for it yet? What's going down when?"
"Nah," Max shook her head, then gave a little shrug, "I'm thinkin' this is gonna be one of those situations where ya just gotta wing it. Go in, sniff out Lil' Miss Freakshow - it shouldn't be too hard, given the givens. Keep an eye on what she gets up to, with who, and maybe follow her, see where she goes kinda thing."
Jondy nodded. "Sounds good. Anything specific we should be listening or looking for, or should we just keep track of everything so that we're covered?"
"Keep an ear out for any mention of Psych-X and Amp, that's the drugs Pulse said Lux has been pushin' apart from that, just try and find Lux, and keep her in your sights."
